SST: Space Surveillance and Tracking of Space Debris

On the 20th of June 2018 at 13:00 Quasar participates in a Round Table discussion at Campus de Puerta de Toledo (UC3M).  The event is organized by the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid and the company Isdefe within the Horizonte Espacio program. In the event GMV, SatGen, Indra and Deimos Space also participate.

Today, space debris is one of the principal threats to satellites. To avoid collisions with space debris, the orbits of objects in space must be known. This requires a system of sensors comprising, typically, radars, telescopes and laser-ranging stations, and a data centre to process the acquired observation data. Because of this, the European Commission is putting programs in place to tackle this problem.
